Forget is it a bird is it a plane? Moreover is it Salvador Dali? Is it Eduard Einstein? Are they handle bars?

... They call her 'The bearded Lady'... Though no one actually knows her real identity. There have been reports of women in Huddersfield simply not doing a good enough job when it comes to keeping abreast of their facial hair; The bearded Lady's creations seek to blur the already fuzzy lines around whether or not facial hair is acceptable. When it comes to tracking her down MAYFAIR have found it increasingly difficult; often confusing her with elderly gentlemen swinging their walking canes and twiddling their own whiskers. Captured here is a rare sighting of the tached beast which MAYFAIR wanted to share with its' fellow devotees.

What you can't see is that behind that moustache Maria Scaife is in fact grinning. Headstrong and forward thinking Maria Scaife is in fact a force to be reckoned with and one should not be fooled as much as one may find her creation humorous as she is deadly serious when it comes to the ambition and drive needed to succeed. Soon to be leaving the town to pastures new, Maria Scaife is currently pursuing a career to become a Fashion Designer, recently securing her place at Middlesex University. But before she takes her moustaches 'darn sarth' in her special moustache shaped carry case, she'll be selling her facial hair inspired necklaces and cushions at MAYFAIR. We think they're pretty quirky, cool and surprisingly androgynous.

DON'T! ~ Rain on MAYFAIR's parade

Nobody likes the rain except maybe ducks and umbrellas so unless you are one of the foresaid objects or animals please join us in a mutual a~hoping and a~praying and a~wishing, a~huffing and a~puffing mental strategy to blow those clouds away for MAYFAIR day.

Who wants raindrops on their burger bun anyways? Unless you really are a duck and like your bread wet before you beak it ~ we mean eat it.

Sustainable London Designer

Combining fresh cutting edge fashion from London; but with none of London's pollution, Francesca Warren teams wearable womens style - albeit created from men's clothing (thanks Guys) - with the moral code of being good natured to the ole Mother nature.
As a former industrial textile town Huddersfield's MAYFAIR team naturally offers Francesca Warren an overly warm welcome, as her environmentally friendly collection is full of miniscule but hugely effective Textile details such as flocking, embroidery, print and dyeing which gives her work an edge above simply being a re-invented shirt which the wearer has simply pinned in at the waist.
A former London College of Fashion student and Current MA Central Saint Martins student her Collection oozes style, sophistication and a good deal of thought and consideration to the wearer and our environment

You're Truly Scrumpy, you're truly Truly Scrumpy

With a visible love of all things Cath Kidston, Holly Hulse; creator and designer of her own brand Truly Scrumpy creates decorative items which compliment any girl's outfit.

Her interest in Kitsch, vintage retro print, knit and contemporary crafts means that her handmade and customised accessories will complete your outfit, and make one look subtly unique. Because they are accessories rather than a full blown customised outfit, Truly Scrumpy gives you the chance to buy something that you can add to your ensemble, something a little quirky, without making a scene.

A throw back to the 1920's and the Jazz Age, MAYFAIR are jiving to Truly Scrumpy's rhythm, donning feathers and hair bands alla Bugsy Malone. Whether you're into your new, your old, your borrowed or even your blue rest assured Truly Scrumpy will have an accessory to bring the most out of your outfit.

MAYFAIR have their eyes on her feathered hair clips - way more individual and of course lovingly made than anything available in the shops.

***NEWSFLASH*** MAYFAIR SECURES TOKYO

MAYFAIR interrupts your casual browsing for pleasure - or boredom - antics with a very special bulletin; MAYFAIR will be held at nightclub venue Tokyo Wednesday 19th May, 2010, 12pm.

First we respectably asked, then admittedly we got a bit desperate so we begged, pleaded and baked our way through the stomach and into the hearts of Tokyo's staff to give us and YOU the privilege of enjoying the creative nick 'n' knacks of various designers and Independent stalls in the familiar surroundings of Huddersfield's most beloved club.

MAYFAIR has it on good authority that there's going to be a BBQ on the day too: cakes, bands, DJ sets, cool unique merchandise, a BBQ AND not forgetting the whole point of this post - all held in Tokyo's what more do you want Huddersfield?*

*We regret nudity ain't our cuppa tea so don't waste your time suggesting it's what Huddersfield wants, it's a family show folks

Benaiah Matheson: we commend you

MAYFAIR is dedicated to showcasing all of what Huddersfield has to offer in terms of its' creative talent. Therefore we can't help but want to big up Benaiah Matheson. The guy has a somewhat insatiable apetite for all things slamming, slick and that bit different. Benaiah's talent in turning art into wearable graphic design means that he has no limits. He has applied his designs to many types of clothing, truly making wearable art and at MAYFAIR we commend that with a well deserved quote; "One should either be a work of art or wear a work of art", Oscar Wilde.

My work is an organic, pure reflection of me and the issues that are closest to my heart. As the world can be abstract, so is my art but with a core sense of aesthetics. The subtle balance of colour, line-weight and complexity in a particular space is always of the up most importance.

Benaiah Matheson studied Graphic Arts at Liverpool and is currently studying Fashion at our beloved - and occasionally loathed: loathing subject to an individual's exam time - Huddersfield University WAYHEY. Benaiah's inspiration stems from a multitude of sources. Firstly, as expected, he has a passion for fashion and a particular love of trainers - his personal collection is vast and far reaching - he highly acclaims Dover Street Market in London and his influences tend to skirt around RnB and Hip Hop. Twinning these influences with his organic, urban, decorative illustrations, gives Benaiah's designs a moreover effortless unique depth in comparison to other street style designs: he has the know how to create laid back, urban cool, with a throw back to ethnic roots. RESPECT.

Benaiah currently occupies himself with selling his 'Hud Uni' hoodies - MAYFAIR has dubbed these 'Huddies', cute but cool printed baby grows designed for his upcoming 'Bambino Bambina' baby range as well as putting on various R&B club nights whilst in Liverpool, he has also shown his African / Street style designs at No Frills fashion show.

If all that wasn't enough to convince y'all to check him out at MAYFAIR, don't just take our word for it "In 2007 I (Benaiah Matheson) had work published in grafuck, a collaboration of a 100 top graphic artists".

MAYFAIR: Eco Warrior Warren

http://francescasustainabilityblog.blogspot.com/

Eco Warrior Warren

Francesca Warren is currently studying her Masters at Central Saint Martins College, London on the MA Textile Futures course.
MAYFAIR is delighted to have Francesca selling her hand designed and made dresses which are re designed from men's shirts. We knew women wearing just a man's shirt was sexy but Francesca's designs are something else - you could not guess they had once been men's shirts.
Each piece she designs is unique. A colour pallette of white, grey and blue hues with a flash of fushcia pink detailing some of her designs her dresses are bang on trend. Some of her dresses have added details on the cuffs and have been dyed beyond recognition from the original grey chequered shirt they once were.
Francesca is no stranger to Huddersfield. She recently had her designs shown as Huddersfield University's No Frills fashion show - an event which emphasised all which was eco friendly and good to our mother nature.

Wonderland Vintage

Wonderland Vintage
Rachael Foley coordinator for MAYFAIR will be unveiling her Wonderland Vintage Boutique's new (as new as Vintage can get anyways) Spring/Summer 2010 Vintage Collection at MAYFAIR.
Taking over TWO stalls Rachael has deliberately foraged for womens and menswear vintage clothing with MAYFAIR's event date specifically in mind and - admittedly with some difficulty - held herself back from selling her foraged finds at other events.
Q: So what does this mean for our MAYFAIR gatherers? A: There's no danger of dedicated Wonderland Vintage fans getting dejavu and seeing the same old (though naturally it is Vintage and is a little old) stock. She's saving it all for you MAYFAIR.

MAYFAIR's logo designer Beki Bright

MAYFAIR's logo designer Beki Bright graduated from Goldsmiths College, London in 2009 where she continues to live and work.
Her artwork evokes fairy tales, folklore and childlike imagination marrying romance and nostalgia on equal par.
Beki's work normally functions as Installation. Her Children Book-esque illustration scenes are in fact turned sculptural, by putting not pen to paper but scalpel instead, Beki painstakingly creates beautiful cut out paper story telling in the form of a 3 dimensional stair case. Her work therefore literally extends from the page. Coordinators and stall holders of MAYFAIR are proud to have the logo specifically designed by Beki Bright for MAYFAIR, which encompasses all of which the event holds dear: designer clothing, tea and cake, and Spring time.
